Vox, Where Did My Tags Go?

UPDATE: The issue has been resolved and I am closing down comments on this post. However, I decided to keep this posting to show how well Team Vox responds to the community. Thanks again for all your work.

Looks like one of those new features that were added to the "Bee" Release was the automatic tagging of assets (photos, videos, etc) that are featured in either a QotD or a Vox Hunt response. This is very cool since I don't know how long I have just wanted to subscribe to an RSS feed of just Vox Hunt images and I have been manually doing this since the inception of Vox Hunt. However, there is something very wrong with this feature.

It seems that all assets that you add to the post will be tagged with qotd or vox hunt as well as the other keyword used for the day. However, any and all tags used before on the asset are wiped away and replaced with just the two tags. Following screenshots demonstrate the before and after of what happened to a video asset's tags when used for a qotd response.

The behavior should be to automatically add any new unique tags to the asset based on the QotD or Vox Hunt response, not to overwrite them. However, this may not completely be what the user wants. For example, my self reflection Vox Hunt entry has only one image tagged as "vox hunt" and "self reflective". This is because that one image was my Vox Hunt entry and all subsequent entries were those that I wanted show how I set up the image. So how would automatic tagging handle this situation? It wouldn't. It would tag all of the photos as "vox hunt" and "self reflective". That wouldn't bother me in this situation except I am not warned that Vox is about to mess with my tags. The Voxxer would like to have some visual alert/warning saying "hey, I am adding these tags to these images. Are you cool with that?". The user could say "Sure", "No", or "Just only to these assets, thanks".

I became aware of this behavior when submitting a vox hunt entry with a GeoVox tag and losing that tag. Determining again what the lat/lon coordinates for where the image was taken was not a fun activity. I can only imagine what it would be like for those Voxxer who have 20 tags on one asset trying to remember all of those tags.

Luckily, this behavior doesn't appear to occur when you edit a post, but I have yet to fully test that. I also haven't tested to see if this affects all assets, but I know it affects photos and video.

Normally, the area for a rant/bug submission would be the Feedback area of Vox. However, since this affects "our" assets and how we tag them, I wanted to warn the Vox community of the current bug and make Team Vox aware of how important resolution of this bug is to the community. This was not written to make Vox or Team Vox look bad. I can't not express how much I enjoy this product, the team involved in it, and the community as a whole.

I will leave the comments open until the bug is resolved. However, feel free to comment on whether this bug affects/bothers you. I am sure Team Vox would appreciate to know that it's not only me that is bothered by this. Also, spread the word to your fellow Vox neighbors and make them aware of the bug and/or this post. I do not know how else to make this visible to everyone else except for people to maybe favorite this post to give it visibility on the Home page.

thanks raf. hopefully something will be done about this soon. it is very bothersome and I do not thing I will be posting any QOTD's or hunts until it is fixed.
