What do you collect?
I really don't collect. It's more "I don't throw out". I am not a pack rat but I do have every PC game I have ever owned stored away in a box. The wife and I are Stephen King fans and we have an extensive library of his published works. I would have to say that The Dark Tower series books could be considered our collectibles. We treat them like I treat every release of the Star Wars saga on DVD: "ooo, different version, we need that". So we have the Dark Tower saga in its various incarnations: hardback, paperback, trade paperback, audiobook, and the rewrites of the sage. Much of what we have are first editions, since we have been reading the saga our entire lifetimes. So below is a picture of our "top shelf" tower books. All of these books are done by Grant Publishing, which is rare for the books up until books 5 - 7 (where Grant became the prime publisher). Unfortunately, not all the Tower books displayer are first editions. Books 1 - 3 are later editions because the first editions for these are a little more that I am willing to pay.
The two books on the left that have the honor to grace this shelf are signed first editions. Skeleton Crew was the first Stephen King book I ever read as a kid so it has a special place in my heart. During one of our pilgrimages to Bangor, Maine, we met up with Stephen King and he signed both of these books for me. The wife has her own personalized signed Bag of Bones.
Lastly, maybe I should say we collect things Dark Tower, since we purchased the following two prints from the Michael Whelan gallery (which are still in the shipping tube, unframed).
