During my short visit to NYC, I made sure that I visited the Nintendo World store. I had to get something for the wee one from NYC, so I left the store with a stuffed Donkey Kong. Eventhough the Pokemon toys were more plush, I was not about to subject my child to that addictive world.
The store was not just a retail store. It also served as a museum to all things Nintendo. They had in glass cases several of the early Nintendo Game Systems and some rarities. One of these was a Legend of Zelda edition of the Game Boy Advanced SP signed by Shigeru Miyamoto. Only 30 of these exist and unfortunately they were sold out. There was also an original Game Boy that was in damaged from a barrack bombing during the Gulf War. They don't make them like they used to.
Lastly, there was one item I almost walked away with, but red is not my color when it comes to hats.
I am currently about 45 minutes away from NYC by train. I have been on the fence of picking up a Canon Powershot SD630 and decided to that I would need to grab one while I was here. Because of the proximity of my present location to NYC, this was an excellent excuse to physically (instead of virtually) visit B&H Photo Video. I love this store (before I even visited it) because of the selection and the prices. This was my second visit to B&H but nothing has changed. It's a very surreal experience that all consumers must experience in their life. They have quite the process for purchasing (which I wont go into but I think Oompa Loompas are involved).
I checked my backpack and camera in when I entered the store. Luckily, I had my mobile phone so I snapped this quick shot of the Canon display.
I grabbed my new camera (more of a supplement to my PowerShot G3) and headed out of the store. I always have to take a picture of the Empire State Building as I leave B&H.
Some shots going over the Throgs Neck Bridge looking at NYC. The wife took these since I was not about to take some shots over my shoulder while going over this monstrosity. These photos have been GeoVox'd as well.
